I have developed a 2-hour Digital Photography for Beginners course as well as three comprehensive 3-hour hands-on instruction Modules that can help. One-on-One Instruction

One-on-One Instruction takes place in my home. As the name implies, it means you get more personal attention to your questions than you would in a classroom situation. Depending on scheduling, you may be sharing the course with up to 3 other people, or have me all to yourself.

Digital Photography for Beginners helps new SLR owners understand the capabilities of their camera, find the creative modes and understand why they want to use them. All of the topics in the “Perfecting the Photograph in the Camera” course are covered, with the exception of preparation for shooting panoramas and HDR images and night photography. Have your camera and manual with you to practice these concepts. Course notes and a PowerPoint handout are included.

Cost is $35.40+HST=$40 per person for 2 hours.

 

Perfecting the Photograph in the Camera (Module 1) deals with taking the camera out of fully automatic mode and selecting the controls which will give the best results in a particular scenario. Vital topics such as aperture, shutter speed and depth of field are explained and demonstrated. Panoramas, High Dynamic Range (HDR) images and night photography are also explained. Find out what filters can enhance your pictures. Master the histogram in your camera - it’s the best tool you can use. Have your camera and manual with you to practice these concepts. Course notes and a PowerPoint handout are included.

Cost is $53.10+HST=$60 per person for 3 hours.

 

Photoshop® CS5 Introduction (Module 2): If you have Photoshop®, or are trying to decide whether or not to purchase it, this module is intended for you. The features in Photoshop® are immense. I’ll show you which ones you are going to need the most and show you how to use them to optimize your images. Topics include desktop customization and navigation, the RAW converter, tonal adjustments, cropping, resizing and straightening. Course notes and a PowerPoint handout are included.

Cost is $53.10+HST=$60 per person for 3 hours.

 

Photoshop® CS5 Advanced Concepts (Module 3): This module picks up from Module 2, and adds more advanced tools. Included are: selection methods, layers and layer masks for compositing images and applying special effects, fixing blemishes, creating high dynamic range (HDR) images and panoramics. Course notes and a PowerPoint handout are included.

Cost is $53.10+HST=$60 per person for 3 hours.

 

3 Module Package (Module 1 + Module 2 + Module 3):

Save $20 when you pre-pay for Perfecting the Photograph in the Camera, Photoshop® Introduction and Photoshop® Advanced Concepts using the PayPal button below. You can use your PayPal account, or a major credit card even if you don’t have a PayPal account. Modules are typically taught one per week, but scheduling can generally be arranged to suit you. Contact me to check on available times before proceeding with payment.

If you need to cancel before Module 1 starts, I will promptly refund the full amount to your PayPal account or credit card through PayPal. If cancellation is necessary part way through the course, I will refund the outstanding portion on the basis that the module(s) you took revert to full price ($60).

Cost is $141.59+HST=$160 per person for a total of 9 hours of instruction.
