From former students:
“Gordon offered a very detailed and informative course in an informal environment that made me comfortable in my ability to get hands on and productive in my new hobby! Very happy to answer questions and to demonstrate the functions of my camera.” - Kristofer Woods

“I really liked the lighting and how to use your digital camera courses for beginners. It was worth the time and the money.” - Jani F.

Aperture_compositeHave you recently purchased or received a digital SLR as a gift? Bewildered as to how to get the best results from it? I have developed a 2-hour Digital Photography for Beginners course as well as comprehensive 3-hour hands-on courses in Photoshop® and Lighting that can help. These are delivered in the London, Ontario area. Course outlines can be viewed under the course descriptions below.

Classes

For the Digital Photography for Beginners and Digital Photography and Lighting for Beginners courses, I am now teaching them in scheduled classes rather than arranging times with individuals. Classes take place in my home. Depending on how many enrol for a particular date, you may be sharing the course with up to 2 other people, or have me all to yourself. Dates are outlined under each course description below, plus a link for you to register.

Because of the nature of the Photoshop courses, they will continue to be scheduled on a one-on-one basis on a mutually-agreeable date and time.

Digital Photography for Beginners helps new SLR owners understand the capabilities of their camera, find the creative modes and understand why they want to use them. We start off with a discussion of lenses and sensors, then demystify terms like aperture, depth of field and shutter speed. The importance of lighting and composition are also covered, as well as using the histogram to ensure your exposure is correct before you wrap up your shoot. Filters, fill flash, metering modes, exposure compensation and white balance are also brought into the discussion. Have your camera and manual with you to practice and reinforce these concepts. Course notes and a PowerPoint handout are included. The course summary can be reviewed by clicking digital-photography-for-beginners-summary

Cost is $50.00 per person (for 2 hours)

IMPORTANT: This course is designed for Digital SLR (interchangeable lens) camera owners only. If the lens cannot be removed on your camera, it is a point-and-shoot. Unfortunately, you will not benefit from the course if your camera is a point-and-shoot. Please email me if you are not sure.
